This weekend I went to visit my best friend who lives out of state. It was just a quick trip, full of fun, laughter and activities. When I travel I like to pack light, carrying as many sample sized products as I can. This weekend trip was no exception.
I carried some of my staples that I have added into my routine, some old favorites, plus some samples I wanted to use up.
Lately I have been testing out both the new Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Foundation and the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, so I had to take them with me. I am still deciding how I feel on both of the products, I have been trying to test them out under a variety of conditions.
When traveling, I try not to mess around with too many new products, it is always nice to bring some old favorites to keep your routine familiar. My staples that I brought this trip were my Bobbi Brown Corrector for covering my dark circles (definitely a must when traveling, burning the candle at both ends takes a toll). My ELF Studio Eyebrow Kit because even when I am wearing minimal / no makeup I at least have my eyebrows done. To create a base for my eyeshadow I like to wear some sort of primer, I brought my favorite multi-tasker the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Eyeshadow in Barely Branded. The color tattoos are great to use as an eyeshadow primer, a quick and easy all over eyeshadow color or this color in particular makes a great highlight. Lastly my other favorite I brought was my CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara, not only does it do a great job of separating and lengthening my eyelashes, it also helps curl them slightly (I really had eyelash curlers they look like torture devices) which keeps me looking awake when I don't get much sleep.
Lastly I brought a few sample sizes of products to help fill in the gaps. My oily skin needs a primer to help my foundation stay on, one of my favorites is the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, it helps fill in fine lines and large pores while helping your foundation last longer. I brought a sample size of the Pur Pressed Powder, which is great for setting makeup as well as using as a powder foundation when applied more densely. I was lucky to get my hands on a tiny sample size of Nars Laguna Bronzer, one of amy all time favorite bronzers. It is great for warming up the skin tone as well as contouring your cheekbones when you want a more dramatic look. For a blush and eyeshadow duo I brought my little point perk Bobbi Brown palette from Sephora. The small credit card size is great for travel, while the neutral eyeshadows can create everything from a shimmery day time look to a smokey eye for a night out.
When I travel I like to have a variety of new, old and samples to help get me through a trip. It is great to bring things I don't typically use on a daily basis to help me take better advantage of all the products I own. I also love to bring multi-taskers and palettes that help provide a variety of looks. What are some of your favorite products to bring when you travel? Do you prefer old favorites or new products?
