For an oily girl like me finishing is the most important step all year round, but most importantly in the summer. Even if you are not oily I still recommend setting sprays, they keep your makeup in place and even take away the powdery look that can be left behind.
When I am done putting on my foundation and concealer I like to set my makeup in the T-zone. I tend to avoid putting power on my cheeks because the skin is more normal and I am also going to be putting on bronzer and blush, no one wants to look like a cake face! A great lightweight setting powder is Bare Minerals Mineral Veil it is finely milled and translucent. I take it on a large fluffy brush to set my T-zone, I also like to take it on a small fluffy brush to set my under eye concealer, even if I am using a different setting powder.
If you would like a little more coverage out of your setting powder a powder foundation is a great option. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder has been my recent go to for setting my foundation when I want a little more coverage. It is not a powder foundation, but it provides more coverage then a translucent powder. It leaves your skin with a nice matte finish, while this isn't for everyone if you spray a setting spray on top it looks great.
Speaking of setting sprays Urban Decay makes some great ones that are readily accessible at Sephora. The All-Nighter Spray is my favorite, it keeps my makeup from looking cakey as well as keeps it from melting off my face in the summer heat. My makeup loves to travel when I don't use a setting spray.
They also make a setting spray for oily skin called De-Slick which is supposed to keep you looking matte. I tried a sample bottle of this one a while ago, it definitely kept me matte longer then when I don't use it, but never fail my oily skin rages on and breaks down all barriers after time. I have heard from people it is best to spray setting spray before and after you complete your makeup for the best results. Typically in my morning stupor I forget to do this, so I have yet to try it out.
When I am out and about I always like to keep the Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets on hand. I do like to touch up with powder once a day, but I always start with clearing off the excess oil to prevent my makeup from becoming cakey. These sheets are awesomely satisfying, I love seeing them go from opaque blue to clear and knowing that my skin now looks shine free.
What are your favorite ways to keep your makeup staying fresh looking all day? Do you have a favorite setting powder or setting spray?
