Sun, sand and surf. Between the sweat and the water long wearing and waterproof eye makeup will help you get through the hot summer months without your face melting off, or at least with minimal smudging. While I don't wear makeup when I am planning on going to the beach or the pool, I find wearing waterproof and long wearing products help keep my eye makeup looking smudge free.
As I have mentioned before I have combination oily skin, but one of my oily areas is my eyelids. My eye makeup is constantly smudging and traveling. Wearing products that are waterproof and long wearing helps minimize this, plus with the addition of an eye primer I am set for all day wear.
Cream shadows are a great way to keep you eye makeup staying on all day. I love to wear them on their own for a quick wash of color or layer them under powder eye shadow to help my eye looks stay longer.
Make Up Forever makes a great long wearing and even water proof cream eye shadow with their Aqua Creams, some of the colors are even formulated to be used on the cheeks and lips.
The Maybelline Color Tattoo's are a great drugstore alternative for a long wearing cream eye shadow. They aren't waterproof like the Aqua Creams but they work just as well for a fraction of the cost.
To get most eye liners to be long wearing and smudge proof it is best to layer over them with a matching powder eye shadow, but lets be real...who's got the time for that. In the summer quick and easy is what I like and Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, is just that. The smooth creamy formula goes on easily, can be smudged out, but once it is set it stays in place. They even come in a variety of awesome colors, I have been lusting after Junkie and Asphyxia to use to add a pop of color to my lower lash line.
Waterproof mascara is just a no brainer for the summer time. The heat and humidity cause my mascara to smudge faster then you can say "summertime!". I have been combating that this summer with Cover Girl Clump Crusher in Water Resistant. This is probably my favorite mascara even in the non waterproof formula. You can apply one coat for natural feathery lashes or build it up for some sexy bedroom eyes. It lives up to its name, no matter how many coats I have applied it still doesn't clump!
My eyes have always been my trouble spot for makeup, it's just constantly smudging, even without the aid of the heat and humidity. What are your favorite products to use to counter act smudging?
