My best friend, J, lives out of state. Not too far away but far enough that we just can't pop over and have dinner randomly, but this weekend that kind of happened. She was in the city doing something with her boyfriend and they decided to take the trek out to see me. We got lunch at a great Mexican restaurant by me and then went on a mini girly shopping spree.
We decided to go to MAC, since neither of us had bought any MAC makeup in a long time. She was looking for a new foundation and wanted to get my favorite MAC eye shadow, Woodwinked (drinking game, take a shot every time I mention Woodwinked in this post. Warning: you may end up with alcohol poisoning). I wanted for find some new fall eye shadows, but of course I had to come home with more then I planned.
While at the MAC counter I was hoping to find some new great fall eye shadows, of course I came home with three. The pictures really don't do any of the shades justice, they are all gorgeous!
The first shadow I gravitated towards was All That Glitters, a classic MAC eye shadow that I am sure most people own. I had previously owned it but left it in a hotel room years ago. It is a great neutral eye shadow that MAC describes as a beige with gold pearl. I love the champagne slightly pink color that it is, it is a great everyday neutral with oomph.
One of my favorite eye shadow shades that I am drawn to in the fall is cranberry (not specifically the MAC eye shadow, but the color in general) . I was hoping to find a new updated cranberry shade that I could add to my collection, I found that in Star Violet. While I tend to not wear colored eye shadow ever, the only colors I gravitate towards tend to be purples. Star Violet is a pinky-brown plum shade, it has got the purple colors I gravitate towards with a hint of cranberry. I also find that it has a quite goldy-bronze sheen to it.
I have been on a mission to find more one step, blend out, get a multidimensional eye look with one color eye shadows (wow that was a mouthful), like Woodwinked. I hope that I can get that out of Star Violet, but I am also hoping I can get that from the last shadow I picked up, Sable. MAC describes Sable as a gold-plum with bronze pearl, it is a beautiful warm brown that would look great all year round.
Finally I decided to replace my beloved Cream Cup lipstick that I lost last year. The light blue pink shade looks great on a variety of skin types, plus with the slight blue undertone it helps your teeth look super white. It's a great neutral to wear on the daily, but it also looks great with a smokey eye.
What are some of your MAC favorites? I am always looking to try new things.
