After discussing skincare basics last week I thought it would be beneficial to create a cheat sheet for when to get rid of your makeup. Along with keeping your makeup brushes clean, it is important to get rid of any makeup that is old.
Bacteria love to live on products and brushes, every time you use them on a fresh face you are redepositing bacteria. This can lead to breakouts and infections.
If there is ever a funky scent coming out of your make up, get rid of it immediately. It is not worth the hassle of a skin infection (trust me, they are not fun or cute).
I am not great about getting rid of my old makeup, I have some items that are way past their prime. The products I always make sure I get rid of in a timely basis are my mascara and my foundation. Pretty much the liquid products are what I am the best at getting rid of.
I am going to get better about getting rid of my powder products or at least try. I know there are powder disinfecting spray that you can get that makeup artists use, so you can keep your products clean.
I created a printable PDF of the cheat sheet to help you out. Click Here for the PDF.
Now I am off to clean out my makeup drawer.
